The North Melbourne Football Club’s IT systems are obliged to comply with the AFL’s standard for data security management and disaster recovery. These systems are fundamental to the Club’s support of the team, staff, members and sponsors, and so it was crucial for them to meet these obligations. However, the Club was concerned that an effective data recovery solution was out of its reach, owing to both the financial requirements and the availability of skills and resources. As things stood, the Club relied heavily on IT contractors to support its desktops and systems, and there was little time for proactive operational support of the servers and storage.
