Disaster Recovery Service

Whether it’s terrorism, fire, earthquake, hail storm, industrial dispute, power failure, hardware upgrade gone wrong, or simple denial of access, these days the risks to your business are endless.

For instance, how long can you afford to be without your core IT systems, your email, or your office? How many of your customers would begin buying from your competitors if you couldn't receive, process, and fulfil their order? If the answers to any or all these questions cause you to break out in a cold sweat, you need Interactive.

Interactive is the largest third party provider of Disaster Recovery Services to the Australian Market. Currently we provide these services to some of Australia's most respected organisations from three first class recovery centres in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Interactive has a proud history of recovering clients from real life disaster situations, to the every successful test conducted for each and every customer. We have been providing these services to the Australian market since 1992.

Understanding the risks of Disaster Recovery Service

Interactive are very clear in helping our customers understand the risks of Disaster Recovery. To reduce risk and increase availability we ensure that customers subscribing to a shared service are dispersed based on geographic location, power grid and telecommunications. This ensures high availability of systems in a disaster and protects you from the risks of being second in line for the same equipment. We also limit the number of subscribers on a given platform, again reducing your risk.

What differentiates us from our Competitors?

  • Most importantly our Engineers capability in assisting customers rebuild their Hardware and Operating Systems before they start loading data.
  • Our knowledge gained in running thousands of hours of tests.
  • Flexibility in providing solutions.
  • Limited number of subscribers per system.
  • We minimise customers located in the same geographical area through a detailed risk management process.

What do we provide?

Our definitions are as follows:

Cold - Data Centre floor on which customers can place their own equipment in event of a disaster.

Warm
- Shared infrastructure whereby a customer subscribes to a Computer system or environment that may have other customers subscribing to the same system or environment.

Hot
- Live or Mirrored data on a fully dedicated system that the customer manages as a remote set up linked to their production environment.

Each of these environments has a different cost equation with Cold being least expensive; however recovery time is lengthier. A Hot environment is the most expensive option but enables your business to continue to operate seamlessly if a disaster situation were to occur with your IT Production Systems.

The choice of Cold, Warm or Hot is dependant on you and will be determined by how long you can afford to operate without your IT environment and the impact this will have on your business and your customers.

Most customers determine the value of a Disaster Recovery Service by associating downtime with a cost. Ask yourself, what will it cost me in real terms, lost production, inactive users, no internet connection for receiving orders if your systems are down and how long can you bear this loss - hours or days?

Interactive currently provide recovery environments for IBM Mainframe, IBM System i, IBM System p, Sun Servers, Intel Servers, PC's, Workspace, Call Centre and PABX.
